When people don't care who they're following. Don't try to raise your # s/stats - follow b/c U honestly want 2know more abt the conversation.
Rule #1: on Twitter, everything is fair game to be shortened.
Anything that raises awareness of wmn's issues & gender equity or encourages wmn &girls 2break thru the barriers facing them.

Ugh, yes -- they were tweeters who were, uh, inappropriate.
It's a tie between Hootsuite and Bit.ly
Use Twitter to have a conversation, engage others & share info -- don't use it as just a way to disseminate your POV.
Take part in conversations around issues affecting wmn & girls. There's a large wmn's community on Twitter; we want to see it keep growing!
Connecting w/ interested indivs who want 2take action but don't know how/where, & ppl asking for info abt our fellowships & grants program.
Don't know about funniest trend, but there have definitely been some heartbreaking ones such as #Haiti.
Not yet - not that we know of! We are usually praised for our tweets.

To update followers w/ information -- articles, action alerts, blogs, etc. -- and to hold conversations about our issues.
Gloria Steinem -- she received an award from AAUW at our 2003 convention.
To share information and resources to support our work and our members.
Yes, it has intro'ed us 2a whole new audience - mre ppl R aware of AAUW & our work. It's been fantastic! We appreciate our tweeps.
Our members, donors, staff, alumnae, research, and online tools.
Various depts. are represented in our tweets: public policy, local branch events, blogging, etc. - we touch on all our issues, all the time.
#pfa - the Paycheck Fairness Act, which needs to pass the Senate! Gender-based pay discrimination is unacceptable!
