The biggest misconceptions come from the press that cover it - the question they uniformly ask on camera is to....wonder aloud why the world would care what some idiot blow-dried news anchor had for breakfast.
Somehow it's lost on them that Twitter is a seething cauldron of semantically target-able real time communications between millions of people. Or, perhaps dwellers of the Ivory Tower mock it, because deep down inside each and every one of them know that Twitter, and networks like it, are currently eating their lunch.
Mostly by listening to what our followers are talking about, research on the current state of the business with an ear to the ground for breaking, relevant news items...and often we receive requests from followers to RT or simply announce things they'd like our followers to see.
Hard to say; it's not going to be too long before Twitter's cold blooded venture capitalists will demand monetization on some level. We'll probably see the introduction of sponsored elements of pretty much every facet of the site, coupled with restrictions on elements of communications afforded by the network. 'Pay us monthly for your premium account', that kind of thing.
They should add us in because we're ridiculously awesome Tweeters. Our watchwords are 'current', 'relevant' and 'funny', and we update religiously.
The late imbroglio between factions of the Screen Actors Guild really saw a huge spike in discussion and really was interesting in terms of the passions that were exhibited on both sides of the fight.
Didn't you just ask us that? :)
All Twitter accounts are, at the end of the day, one-of-a-kind. That being said, we thing accounts like @drunkhulk are hilarious; that guy is like a joke writing machine gun.
Yes, Twitter lists are astoundingly useful for organizing communications. For instance, we're an entertainment industry resource, so being able to split people out by their niche in the industry really facilitates running down the most salient comments from thought leaders in pretty much every area.
