That it is easy to create community on. In many cases it is a little bit like watching people talking at a conference and most people don't realize that the best information is often in the audience not on stage. Sharing is what gives it value, not the number of followers you have.
I try to be somewhat strategic and have a theme each day but if I see something I find interesting I am pretty sure that at least a few of the 2000 who follow me will as well. i am sensitive however that I don't tweet to often at once.
It seems to have peaked as s social media platform and is now populated by people who's full time job is social media so you lose the genuine conversations. I am not so sure there is as much value as when people used to have genuine conversations on it vs pushing out "product".
I read a huge amount of information on eHealth and have a wide range of interests in everything from tech, to social change and mindfulness. Hopefully rather then just retweeting news that everyone else has already seen I find the off beat news for my followers.
Typically I focus on patient centered design in health IT technology and policy but I have a secret second account where I get to talk about the latest breakthroughs in bio-medical engineering
@throopcat - okay it is a stuffed animal but she came and sat with me for six hours right before I testifed before a workgroup in Washington, DC
I love finding people who are interested in psychology and health care it.. @bjfogg of course is great - expert in behavior change at Stanford
A much smaller account is @taracousphd a clinical psychologist who has created an amazing web site for young women.
Lists are the number one way to manage and find followers. I use them to mentor new people and follow high value SME's.
