Fashion, PR and Graphic Design/Creative Marketing -- I hope ?? For all I know I might be known for something else..haha
I think people can hide behind the veil of twitter. There are A LOT of people on twitter claiming to be this or that or a master marketing mind or social media specialist and they really are not. It is usually some fake ad bs and I think people and other professionals in general need to be leary of that. Educate yourself people! If this person has tons and tons of followers and their tweets are strangely off when it comes to what they are supposedly experienced at, then don't fall into the twitter hole. Check out websites and make sure they are legit. Also, I think the fact that people think the more people u follow, the more u will get followed. So NOT true. I've only just started cleaning house on who I follow since I found I have spammers that I am following. Just open your eyes and take it in for what it is -- another way to connect and learn.
My tweets are based on whether or not I have written a new article on Examiner or on my blog. Obviously I have to do some shameless self promotion, but I promise it's usually a good read and funny too! OR, I tweet based on mood, if I feel inspired, down or whatever I'll post quotes that are uplifting or links to youtube videos that help me get through the day. I also love retweeting other great tweeters!!
I think twitter is definitely on the cusp and giving fbook a run for it's money. I do see twitter becoming more and more main stream with advertising and what not, but they are doing it in a non invasive way. I don't have a bunch of ads in my face saying CLICK ME!!
People should follow who they want to hear from or learn from. I think my articles can be really informative to students, but I also tweet inspiration that I see on a daily basis and funny things that just crack me up. My twitter is linked to my professional life, but I like to let my silly side shine through as well. I am also a hard working young mom, and I think I like connecting with others like me. So, I try to post something inspirational every day to try and not only make myself keep going forward, but to inspire those that follow me as well.
Blogging and journalism of course are the most recent trending topics I've been a part of a discussion on. @_ifb always has amazing trending discussions going on and they are really informative for the blogger who is just starting out.
@ShowYouSuck -- HIGH-LARIOUS!! seriously, someone who is as talented as he is with a handle like his just says it all. One funny dude and he's down to earth to boot. It's hard to come across that these days.
@ExamineStyle and @_ifb and @chictopia are all just great handles to follow to learn about blogging, fashion and just to be inspired!
Definitely! They are a great way to keep up to date on trending ideas in local areas. I think best-of-chicago is a great one as well as chicagosocial, web-designer-graphics, journalists and the general fashion lists are a great way to be connected with insider industries and to connect with others with similar interests. I also think it is helpful to be listed within a list due to the fact that it makes your services (if you are a service provider) that much easier to find!
