So long everybody. It's been great.
Listorious Interview
Answering a question with questions: Who's the bird? whose hand is she in? and two of WHAT in WHOSE bush?
Answering a question with an answer: Yes probably.
Most types of onion, but especially banana shallots (the long pinkish ones).... Farfisa organ like they used to feature on the 1967/1968 Pink Floyd tracks.... My black leather jacket that I got for my 25th birthday, now in the back of the wardrobe somewhere since I ripped it down the back on a stray nail. I can't bring myself to throw it out, even though it's probably at least 2 sizes too small for me know.
The tweets I find most offensive are those from people I don't follow, generated by bots that have picked up on a word or phrase I've used in tweeting (usually inaccurately)
I'd stop following if someone I followed started to try to sell me stuff by tweeting. I block marketers, etc. as soon as they follow me, but if an existing follower started to do it, I'd seriously consider getting rid of them as well.
The odd 'plug' is ok - I expect that, and it might lead to something of interest, and I don't mind the occasional charity appeal, though even that, if it's done constantly, gets to seem more like someone is spamming me.
I'm sure this question was asked earlier - refer to my previous answer.
I'm unemployed currently, so there are no real time restrictions on me. Combine that with the fact that I intermittently suffer bouts of insomnia, and you wouldn't be surprised to catch me on twitter at any time of the day. Mornings before 10am (GMT) and evenings after 6pm are usually a dead cert though.
It varies.
original tweets from me may be about something that specifically interests my friends & followers, or I'll often join in on topics originated by someone I follow if the subject interests me.
I do get involved often in arranged writing chats via hashtags, and I must admit to plugging my blog posts (and those of others) on a regular basis
Hopefully for being a decent person who shares his thoughts with his followers; hopefully as someone who occasionally says something interesting enough for people to continue following; hopefully as someone able to express himself amusingly and genuinely.
Probably as someone who just doesn't shut up sometimes.
Unfortunately it's a misconception held by a lot of people who use it.
They see it as a way to speak to famous people, but those very same famous people just see it as part of their publicity machine.
Wise up! They're not likely to answer your tweets: they probably don't even read them.
Twitter isn't for stalking or fan mail, it's a device to help us interact with other people: a place to meet and get to know people. Forget the 'celebs' - talk to proper human beings instead.
It's called 'brain activity'
Like most actions I perform, they originate with conscious thought.
That's a really silly question actually, because I can't imagine anyone tweeting just for the sake of tweeting, unless they have something they want to say and want to share.
It's become less of a micro-blogging environment and more of a proper social network. A lot of tweets these days are just a hook with links to other sites: blogs, pictures, videos.
There are a lot of sophisticated front-end products around now; I use Tweetdeck which helps with things like hashtag controlled chat forums.
It's only a matter of time before someone adds an 'audio' option so that people can really chat in real time.
I think at one point someone will question the 140 character limit too. It used to be the defining aspect of twitter but is less important these days; I often continue my remarks over 2 or more tweets, and there are software solutions like 'twitlonger' popping up all over the place.
They shouldn't, until they've read some of my tweets and maybe taken a look at my blog at http://bartie-blog.blogspot.com - then if I write or say anything that interests them, and/or makes them want to get to know me, follow me by all means. I DON'T automatically follow back, and I immediately block spammers. But if you're genuine, with a genuine interest you're welcome to follow me. Maybe tweet me with a @ mention to say hello too, then I'll know for sure that you're not a bot
It all depends on who with, and also what crops up. Most running themes tend to be around the area of creative writing, though there's always jokes and other banter flying around.
Loads of them! all funny at different times and in different ways. Being writers, most of the people I follow have links to their blogs, and some are hilarious.
Special mention though, goes to @SheenaIgnatia without doubt, one of the funniest ladies I've ever known - she has a real talent to leave her readers in hysterics.
All the accounts I follow are 'real people' so they're all one-of-a-kind. I don't 'do celebrity' I wont support the use of twitter as just a publicity machine for the famous and for those who think they are. I follow people who interest me; people follow me if they think I have something to offer them.
It remains to be seen - I just got here, only used lists privately up until now
