Listorious Interview
I became interested in Twitter when I realized that it had the potential to do more than spread celebrity "gossip." Specifically, I thought that I had best not, to reuse a trite turn of phrase, "judge the book by its cover," so I figured I would give Twitter a try to see what it is really about.
I have been delighted to find that I am able to quickly glean news-worthy information from a variety of sources, many of whom I would be completely unaware of if not for Twitter. Hope that answers the question!
Pepsi refresh voting for CABF, mental health issues, disability issues
Hmmmm...how about an answer from one of my kids: "Just because. I can't explain why, just ...because you should!"
I think it's more how I imagine the world changing because of and through Twitter...but since I don't want to completely cop out on this one, let me use my "thinking cap": Hmmmm. Twitter is already heavily accessed through "smart phones"; netbooks; iPads, and the like, so that's out...how about texting tweets, is that possible yet?
Eight or more hours, if I'm sleeping!
Ask for help, get connected, find people to follow, and learn to write concisely!
I'm guessing I will after this interview!
Mental health, disability, literacy, and education!
No; I've only been on a couple of days!
At present, almost all. I know how to write concisely.
Don't have one yet...again, someone, please educate me!
As noted, I am not paid for anything I do on Twitter right now; however, I am hoping that connections will help me to further my career aspirations.
My "G-Shock" "atomic" watch; my wife and kids; a place to call home; my faith; a sense of humor; friends!
I would guess I am comitting many of them right now, please, someone, help me!
At present, I am spending too much time on the web...as I become more "mobile" I hope this will change!
I realized that I had a misconception about what Twitter is all about and that a lot of good can be accomplished here!
Right now ti is CABF!
Hmmmm. My best tweet right now is this:Excepting the birth of Christ, NOTHING is more important to me right now than ensuring a WIN of $250,000 for CABF! #pepsirefresh vote YES!
Any time of day right now, but I expect I will find a niche in the evening or early am.
Mental health; education, legal issues in education; education reform; disability rights; literacy. All of the above primarily as related to education but as a person with a mental illness I step beyond the bounds of the schoolyard on that issue in particular.
I don't think I am known for anything yet...
I know the misconception I had was that Twitter was only about celebrity gossip. While it may be true that celebrities enjoy the top Twitter spots (don't celebrities claim the spotlight everywhere?) Twitter is a great resource for getting information quickly!
At present, I am getting started, so I am looking for newsworthy items related to my interest and expertise. I will no doubt become more focused as I further develop my blog at http://edadvocates.wordpress.com.
I am unique in that I am not at all paid for any of the "work" I do here or at my blog, http://edadvocates.wordpress.com. I am an individual living with mental illness with a spouse with mental illness, and two children with different disorders: one on the autism spectrum and one with pediatric bipolar. We have been "pioneering" in our community, especially in the arena of advocating for ourselves and our children. I have professional credentials in education and experience in the field as well as experience as a literacy tutor, and I am trained in substantive legal topics, legal writing, and research. I provide a fresh, Midwestern viewpoint.
Mental health, the adolescent brain, school reform, and especially CABF!

As a new Twitter user, I am still learning the ropes; however, I think I will be using lists, and I can name at least one "follow-worthy" list that I have found: @The_Stir/autism-awareness
