Hash tags should become meta data that don't count against your character count. Ditto for @ names in replies and and retweets.

I don't know that I refuse to shorten anything, but I try to keep abbreviations to an absolute minimum.

Read a book. Learn a new skill. Help the less fortunate. Do something more productive than tweeting.
The list is too long and I don't want to embarrass anyone. Sometimes people become boring, obnoxious, or offensive.
