Listorious Interview

Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?

It has accelerated the pace at which I learn & share information and expanded my universe of friends and colleagues. This medium has impact!

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

What are six things you could never do without?

Music. Love. Dreams. Laughs. Ambitions. Surprises. Oh, and if I had a number seven, it would be food.

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

Why'd you start tweeting?

Twitter is the best platform for finding & sharing information quickly across a diverse and scattered body of people with similar interests.

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

What feature should Twitter add?

A display of whether someone you follow is following you. Demographics on each user. More robust filtering & sorting features.

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?

Who really authors any particular conversation? What's great about Twitter is that many people are thinking along the same lines.

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

Who do you admire most for his or her use of Twitter?

For ubiquity: @GuyKawasaki For brand identity: @lancearmstrong For celebrity: @alyssa_milano For news: @philanthropy

What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?

None. If it can't be said in 120 (leaving space for retweeting) maybe it shouldn't be said at all.

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

How long can you go without a tweet?

No, I won't support the argument that Twitter is an addiction... Wait, excuse me a second, I have to RT something!

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

What's your best tweet?

Let micro-messaging historians be the judge!

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?

Oh, yes. Many times. I don't name names. But it's usually just a matter of trying to focus my attention on the topics that concern me mos.

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

140 characters of advice for a new user?

Share something useful. Engage in conversation. Think before you tweet.

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?

Listen as well as talk. Respond to others, even at the risk of conversations they think they don't want to have. Reach out to new friends.

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?

Perhaps the most exceptional are young people using Twitter to generate support for others in need, like @StovesforRwanda & @zach_bonner.

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

Ever get called out for tweeting too much?

Not yet. Although I do lose a lot of people who want to sell me "teeth whitening" and "twitter follower programs." And I'm glad of it, too!

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

How do you use Twitter in your professional life?

Twitter is a professional application for me and, I dare say, for more and more users every day.

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

What question are we not asking here that we should?

How the next generation of communications will look.

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?

Every foundation, corporate giving program, billionaire and major philanthropist...and every head of state, too!

Jay Frost in response to Listorious

What inspires you to tweet?

To bridge audiences in the worlds of giving, asking and watching by sharing information mission critical to the field of philanthropy.
