We tweet traditional news stories in an non-traditional way, making them sometimes funny, sometimes off-beat, but always personable.
Must be relevant to people's lives: will news impact them directly/immediately? Bar is higher for govt. meetings/court rulings/etc.
Because we offer news that's relevant to their lives, but in an entertaining way. Sorta like wrapping your dog's meds in a slice of cheese.
2 weeks but that's all the vacation time i get. otherwise, i try to space them 30m apart.
Understand Twitter before you dive in. You may THINK you'll get followers to get onboard w/ your program, but opposite is more likely.

I've connected with lots of folks who had stopped paying attention to the AJC, but now they've realized it's still useful to them.
Been tempted, but never unfollowed thru (get it? UNfollowed thru??) with it. Would rather just filter them out with lists.

A way to track who has unfollowed you, and when. In addition to helping see where we lost them, it helps us plan our retaliation.

That serious-minded people can't stay informed 140 characters at a time.

It will morph into carrying more info w/o losing its brevity. Pop-out screens for video, side tweets, etc. off 1-2 character hot links.
