Listorious Interview
Would love to help, but I don't have a gluten-free banana bread recipe handy. You might want to try @glutenfreegirl on Twitter.
Not very often. Most interviews are more like a conversation, so yes, you sometimes ask useless questions, but there's usually time to make up for them.
I started by working in restaurants and bread bakeries, here and around Europe. Eventually found someone I wanted to write about -- a gardener in France. I wrote my first book, The Cook and the Gardener, about him.

Plodt! (I say kiddingly -- I co-founded it; it's now on "hiatus" but will be back in action soon.)
I ask people for feedback on issues I'm thinking about -- for instance, I asked people for book title ideas, and got a flood of responses. I've found sources, developers, and countless ideas. At the site I co-founded (food52) we do an annual Tournament of Cookbooks, and the idea for this came out of a Twitter exchange I had with an acquaintance @cettedrucks. We then teamed up to host the event.
