How did you get interested in studying marketing and specifically marketing for Gen Y?
JJ - I studied psychology in college and grad school and spent many years in advertising agencies. I have always been interested in Consumer Behavior. How people choose to spend their time and money is endless fascinating. The more we know about what drives their behavior, the better able marketers are able to create products, services and communications that serve their needs and strengthen their brands. Millennials are a new kind of consumer. They needed a different approach to teaching in the classroom and they will require special approaches by marketers. Their behavior is shaped by their connectivity and they think differently about what is important. Their influence and size makes them very important to marketers.
