do you think twitter needs to keep developing and improving to challenge facebook or for its own sake by maintaining its values as a site?

Absolutely not! I think Twitter's main challenge is to reinforce the infrastructure so it can keep up with the ever increasing demands we make on it. I think part of the beauty of Twitter is the simplicity of it, the lack of demands it makes on its users and the ease with which we can tweet one line from the beach or stay on it all day. Twitter is for imaginative people =) Don't we all like to think so? lol
